Even though they typically don’t make up the majority of a meal, proteins are the cornerstone of any balanced meal. This is because, as you seek to become more fit and healthy, proteins help sustain and grow your essential lean body tissues. So, we want you to be sure to get enough proteins in each meal and snack. It’s a good idea to start your meal or impromptu snack planning by determining what your protein source or sources will be and then add in healthy carbs and fats. Because we know you’re often busy, here are 10 quick and easy healthy sources of protein:

  • Sugar free beef jerky (Costco, Trader Joes, Amazon)
  • String cheese or cheese slices
  • Boiled eggs
  • Low/no sugar peanut butter
  • Other no/low sugar nut butters
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Sliced turkey and cream cheese roll ups
  • Canned tuna
  • Other canned seafood: sardines, oysters, shrimp, salmon
  • Cottage cheese
